ABOUT

Eklipz

If you know the hip hop scene in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, then you already know Eklipz.  Multi-dimensional Artist. Painter. Emcee. Photographer. Videographer. Entrepreneur. These are just a few of the many hats Leon Robinson, known as EKLIPZ, has worn over the last decade-and-a-half. And now he is proud to add “published Author” to the mix as he set out to take the art book world by storm with his newest body of work – a collector’s edition of portraits aptly titled, "Hip Hop Homage - The Art of Eklipz".

Born in North York, Toronto and raised in Hamilton where he lives with his wife and four children, EKLIPZ’ love affair with Hip Hop began in his youth and continues today. His highly successful career has spanned several years and has taken him in many interesting directions.  He owned a wildly popular Hip Hop clothing & culture store for 12 years in downtown Hamilton called The Boom Spot. He hosted a Hip Hop radio show on McMaster University’s 93.3 CFMU for over 10 years. Eklipz is also a member of the Hip Hop trio Crown A’ Thornz whose new video ‘Hip Hop Revisited’ has been added to MuchMusic’s Rap City rotation.  Winner of the City of Hamilton’s Mural initiative to do a mural in the Bennetto Recreation Centre and the founders of the Concrete Canvas Graffiti showcase – a weekend-long Hip Hop celebration that ran on the rooftop of Jackson Square for 7 summers –  EKLIPZ’ dedication to his craft as an artist, emcee, entrepreneur and community activist has truly made him one of Hamilton’s truest Ambassadors of Hip Hip.

Hip Hop Homage is EKLIPZ’ latest offering to the world of Hip Hop. It is an art book published by his company, Store House Media Inc. This unique book features paintings of 50 Hip Hop Icons, and has been a 2-year undertaking, combining his love for Hip Hop and his love for painting. this is just one component of a multi-platform Homage to Hip Hop!
